My Baby Can Talk - Exploring Signs
Introduces babies to 24 words and signs to encourage them to explore and begin to communicate about the wonders of the world around them. Offers signs for colors, foods, nature and play.  Adult Juror Comments: Good teaching tool for parents who wish to explore teaching young, pre-verbal children to sign so they can communicate with them. It shows several very young children using signs to ask for juice, water, and to identify objects and colors. Well produced. Very clear, colorful, good blend of live action with adult and baby characters, live action animals and toys. For example, to illustrate the word "frog" a toy is shown, several different live action frogs, and of course the host illustrates the signed word for it. There is no storyline. Important that a parent watch with the child for the best effect. Kid Juror Comments: Kids interacted with the program, and it held their attention for the most part. The youngest went up and touched the TV screen. Kids liked the toys in the film that illustrated the words (such as the green toy frog). They responded positively to babies shown on the screen. This is definitely a film requiring adult assistance. The older kids do very well, but the pre-verbal ones need help. The bright colors and the music held their attention.

Sesame Beginnings: Moving Together
Meant for parents to enjoy with their young children as they explore all kinds of movement. When you laugh, sing, talk and move together, you build your child's self-esteem and eagerness to explore and learn. Starring Sarah Jessica Parker.  Adult Juror Comments: How can you not like this? Adorable puppets - based on familiar characters. Baby Muppets crawl, walk and run with amazing realism. Plus, they represent various ages, races and genders. Big Bird is taken care of by his Hawaiian grandmother; Baby Elmo and his dad interact; Prairie Dawn plays with Mom. Encourages interaction between parent and child without which you wouldn't get the same effect. Music is catchy - it suggests and encourages movement.

There is a continuity of activities but is divided into sections suitable for a child's attention span. Kid Juror Comments: Fantastic. They loved it. "The kids said it made them feel 'happy, happy, happy.'" One little boy said it made him feel proud. Another said he liked all Muppet babies. They easily identified Big Bird, Cookie Monster and Prairies Dawn and were absolutely delighted when Baby Elmo showed up. Kids danced along and sang along. Kids needed initial encouragement to participate but once they felt secure in the idea that they could move around the room without concern, they danced, jumped, flew and generally enjoyed the film. "I liked it! I want to do it too!" Two kids cried when it ended.
